Touring Exhibition of Mr Chippa
the Woodblock Carver of Bagru

In 2011 Lee undertook an Artist in Residency called Drawn to India. During this time she visited the Woodblock Colony of Bagru near the Pink City of Jaipur. This area is steeped in history and tradition as the artisans carry on the work of their forefathers

This exhibition contains 19 Prints and 16 Woodblocks beautifully framed to museum and gallery standards by Erin Salguero from Artis Pura (Funded by RADF Ipswich City Council, Arts Queensland and Story Arts Festival Ipswich) 12 Kathputli puppets and 12 paintings inspired from Lee’s travel journal. About the Exhibition

Mr Chippa The Woodblock Caver of Bagru is a children’s picture book created from hand carved woodblocks and handprinted using traditional print practices. The exhibition provides an opportunity for all but particularly children to engage and participate in an experience of viewing that embraces understanding of the world around them, diversity and empathy in a joyful and meaningful way.

Lee has combined art, design and culture in this wonderfully engaging exhibition with illustrations, Kathputli puppets, travel journal paintings and an insight into the creative process.
